Swimage Rollback

Instructions:

Swimage provides the functionality to revert a deployed machine to the previous Operating System.  PC replacements are not eligible for Rollback.

Rollback is a migration setting that needs to be enable for the functionality to work.  In the Migration tab in “Templates” the ‘Snapshot’ needs to be enabled.  Also set the default action for if existing ‘Snapshot’ is found.

Swimage by default will disable the ability to revert a machine after 7 days and purge the ‘Snapshot’ after 20 days.

Rollback is primarily used to revert a failed deployed system back to the previous OS due to some issue in the process.

Rollback is run from the deployed or migrated computer.  Rollback requires that a ‘Snapshot’ was taken of the computer.  The ‘Snapshot’ is created in WinPE prior to making any changes to the old OS.

Rollback can be initiated the following ways:

Offline Deployment from a USB stick

  • Navigate to the ‘Utils’ folder on the root of the USB drive.
  • Go to the ‘Rollback’ folder
  • Run Rollback.
  • Confirm that you want to Rollback and Swimage will restore the old Operating System

Online Deplyment

  • Navigate to the Swimage Server or Swimage DP
  • Go to the ‘Rollback’ folder
  • Run Rollback.
  • Confirm that you want to Rollback and Swimage will restore the old Operating System
